St. Davids in Pembrokeshire, Britain’s smallest
city is the venue for a unique new event. Set in the
stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, visitors
and locals of all ages are invited to enjoy two days
of events and activities.
The Really Wild Food and Countryside Festival is
a Celebration of Food and Countryside Crafts Originating
from the Wild. It will show how we can all explore,
understand and make use of wild materials in the same
way that our ancestors did, but with some new ideas.
There will be WILD talks, walks and demonstrations
taking place throughout Saturday and Sunday. Chefs
will take it in turn to excite your mind and taste
buds, and encourage you to go away inspired to experiment
in your own kitchen with wild ingredients. If you
go on one of the accompanied walks, you will see how
easy it is to gather free food to spice up your meals.
Coastal and shoreline walks will include identification
of seaweeds and shellfish, and edible plants perhaps
only common to that area, and hedgerow walks will
take place around the beautiful Cathedral Close. On
your rambles you will learn about the strict laws
on taking plants from the wild, folk-lore, craft uses,
which plants to try and which plants to avoid!!
